On 8th July I was admitted for a right sided Lumbar Discectomy, as a day case, this I gather was only the second one to be carried out on the unit. I have to say the staff were exemplary, kindness personified, even after explaining I was a registered nurse( this is normally met by a frosty reception). The communication was excellent with my husband being able to ask questions about the timing of the surgery, what to expect & how he could help in my recovery! I recovered relatively quickly within 2 hours I was mobilising, 2 hours later I was discharged home, couldn't wait to get home, as sitting was uncomfortable & laying down not easy on the reclining chairs, the information post operatively I received in both written & verbal format, as after anaesthetic you are a little groggy, having information about who to call and what to look out for are always helpful.
