"Calderdale A and E stroke protocol"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital

Anything else?

Following a previous ischemia I have since suffered a number of stroke like episodes which have required me to attend a and e. Today I lost the use of my right side, my face was drooping and my speech was slurring my family took me to Calderdale as it was quicker than ambulance I was told to sit in the waiting room and had to wait to see the triage nurse who proceeded to quibble about previous diagnosis and then sent me back into the waiting room where I had to wait for over an hour to see the Dr. No mention of stroke protocol was made and I was given a blood test and told verbally to attend the TIA clinic. I had to ask the nurse to write the details down as I can't remember especially on the throes of an attack. The dr kept asking me what had happened if he had seen me on arrival he could have seen for himself. Surely with all the media coverage showing stroke effects I should have been triaged quicker and assessed if it was a full stroke the chance of permanent damage increases the longer treatment is not started. I have lost all confidence in Calderdale hospital.
