"Care of my mum in care of elderly ward - discharge planning"

About: Bellfield Centre / Older peoples' services

(as a carer),

Mum admitted with suspected fractured hip. No fracture, but kept in to make sure she was OK. I am her carer and keen to have her home. She was keen to come home.

Was told on Thursday, coming home Friday.... Told on Friday, coming home Monday..... Told on Sunday, coming home Tuesday..... Tuesday arrives to be told care package still not approved will be Wednesday...... I have taken week off and asked if I could care for her myself until care package started. Bounced between social work and hospital - both telling me the other at fault!

Additional lunch-time visit to her current arrangements! Why could I not do that. She was in a bed she didn't need to be in for 4 days in which she was miserable and I had to travel 40 mile round trip x2 day! Integrated care?

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, its difficult to offer a specific response in relation to your mums discharge without more detail. However I have sent your posting to our admission and discharge team and asked them if they can give any information.

Thanks

Arlian
