"The staff are very kind and usually ..."

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

(as a relative),

What I liked

The staff are very kind and usually quite informative. The hospital is quite clean but there is always room for improvement

The care given once you are in the system is excellent

When you eventually get to see the doctor you have a feeling of confidence in them and know that they will help you

What could be improved

When you go to A&E there must be a system for pain relief which can be given much quicker.

If a patient is not an emergency they should be referred to a GP. Maybe a Shropdoc could be on site and available in a wait system to see the patients that are not really emergencies as there does seem to be a lot of them and if you are behind them and in real need you are a little agitated which can sometimes be transferred to the hospital staff

The nurse that you see initially could be a little more thorough in their assessment as it seem if you turn up you are just in a queue pretty much regardless which does include children

Thank you for providing comments about our services. We aim to provide high quality services for all of our patients, but also recognise that there is always room for improvement. Feedback from patients and visitors helps us to identify the top priorities for making things better for the people we serve.

Your suggestions about having a GP at the hospital are interesting, and this is in fact an issue that is being looked at by the local NHS. We are currently undertaking a review of local health and health care, which includes improving access to emergency care. You can find out more about this review from a dedicated website at www.ournhsinshropshireandtelford.nhs.uk. This site also tells about you about public events on 15 July 2008 in Telford and 16 July 2008 in Shrewsbury where you can find out more and make your views known.

More information about how to make comments, compliments and complaints about our services can be found on our website at www.sath.nhs.uk

Thanks again for taking the time to comment on our services.
