"Great service!"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

Anything else?

I had a bad cold and my eyes started discharging lots of mucus on a Saturday. By the evening, the mucus was crusting around my eyes shut every 5 mins no matter how many times I went to the bathroom to clean my eyes. On Sunday morning, I woke up with even more crusting around my eyes. I found Moorfields Eye Hospital Accident and Emergency centre which was open 24 hours a day every day. This was a relief since my GP and the other walk in centres nearby were closed on Sundays (if not the entire weekend). I got to the A&E centre around 8:15am and was processed at the Triage desk as soon as I walked in. Another nurse took me to check my eyesight and asked me to take a seat in a waiting area. There was water and coffee. I saw 3 sets of patients in front of me and sat down to wait. After about 45 mins, I was checked again by a nurse who told me I had blepharitis, dry eyes and a mild bacterial conjunctivitis infection. A doctor came over a few mins later and confirmed the diagnosis. They wrote me a prescription for the antibiotic gel and said that I could either buy my own drops for the dry eyes or they could prescribe them. I asked them to prescribe it since I didn't know what drugstore would be open that early on a Sunday. The nurse was extremely nice and spent time explaining what I should be doing to treat my issue. She asked me several times if I had anymore questions. When I ran out of them, she asked me to pay for the prescriptions on a small green kiosk and wait there. 5 mins later, she brought out the medicine and some pamphlets and re-explained how I needed to take it. All in all, I was out by 9:30 and it took about an hour 15 mins. Everyone there was absolutely friendly and nice and everyone was smiling. I left with all the medication/treatments I needed and didn't need to go to a drugstore to pick up the prescription! This was all walk in and without an appointment so I was extremely happy since I had been very worried about my eyes and had been stressed about what to do on a Sunday when most centres were closed. I got home, followed the instructions the nurse had told me, and took an hour nap. By the time I woke up, there was noticeably less crusting and I felt a million times better! Overall, I received impeccable service and could not be happier. I would recommend this centre highly and would gladly go back if I had anymore issues.
