I had severe heart pains at about 3:00 am and also an hour later at home. As these died off, I decided to leave it till next morning to go to Watford General Hospital, our nearest hospital. I drove there and arrived at A&E at 8:30. The receptionist told me off for not getting there earlier.
Anyway, she arranged an ECG to be done straight away and within half an hour I was diagnosed as having angina and perhaps a small heart attack. I was whisked off to have some angioplasty done and told that I needed to have two stents. It was all over by about 11. 15 and found myself at the CCU ward. I was discharged next day and left the hospital armed with the medication well before lunchtime!
I can only praise Watford General for the service I received, from the receptionist to the consultants and nurses - they were truly excellent. The only downsides were the food and the temperature in the CCU ward - it was really warm and could benefit from air conditioning or at least some fans.
Thanks very much to all concerned.
