"I have been with the L & D ..."

About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have been with the L & D since 1937 and have never had any serious complaint. In more recent years I have visited almost every dept./clinic plus a weeks stay in a lovely clean ward. I have found the staff and treatment/consultations perfect and very personally considerate. The hospital is as clean as it can be, a few areas exist which are not too good, but nowhere is perfect, try No.10 Downing Street. ALL the doctors, consultants, nurses and staff have been superb. I can only say that from my vast and wide experience at the L & D, it is a wonderful caring and efficient hospital.

We are lucky.

What could be improved

Your Anticoagulant clinic is well organised and the doctors, nurses and staff are all dedicated, kind and efficient.

BUT the patient attendance is so ridiculously high that one is faced with waiting two hours or more for a 4 minute blood sample to be taken. You simply have 10 times as many patients as the facility can handle without increasing resources or time allotted.

This particular aspect of the clinic is a downright disgrace to any hospital in the civilised world and totally disregards the poor patients who have to attend. It is no better than a 3rd world clinic held by Medecins Sans Frontieres in Central Africa in terms of patient management.
