"I now realise how important counselling has been to help me move forward"

About: Inclusion Matters Sefton

(as the patient),

When I first went to Tina, I had huge fears of cancer. I had had an x ray last Christmas as I'd had a bad cough. I was terrified of having the x ray and even more terrified of getting the results as I was convinced I had lung cancer. I was terrified of the post coming or answering the telephone - I then realised I needed help. I went to my GP who suggested therapy.

I have found it amazingly useful and so many anxieties have come to light and how one anxiety may well have set off another anxiety, or the reason for it.

I have always been frightened of flying, so the last few years have avoided doing it. I now find myself telling my husband that although I'm not exactly excited about it, I'm prepared to try flying again - quite a result.

I have found Tina so very helpful, and although I might, in the past, have found counseling for me would have been rather self indulgent, I now realise how important it has been for me to be able to move forward.

Dear Affable947,

Many thanks for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I'm so pleased to hear that your sessions with Tina were helpful and that you feel you have moved forward with your anxieties. I hope you will continue to put into place the skills you have gained during treatment. I will make sure your positive comments are passed on to Tina.

All the best for the future,

Elizabeth
