What I liked

From the moment I began to receive care at Basildon Hospital I felt that I was fully informed of my condition and treated in a professional and caring manner. I was very apprehensive about going into hospital but the staff took the time and effort to talk to me, reassure me and put my fears to rest. My Consultant was very professional and approachable and ensured that I was fully informed about my treatment. All the staff seemed genuinely concerned and caring and I am extremely grateful for high level of care that they provided. The information pack provided by my bed was comprehensive and it was good to have this to look at and take in at my own pace. I was able to self medicate during my stay and I found this to be a positive experience as it gave me responsibility for my own pain control. I have to say that even the food was pretty good with plenty of choice (even for a vegetarian like me) I had complete faith in the ability and professionalism of all the staff involved in my care and would choose to have treatment in the future at Basildon even thought it is not my closest hospital.
