"Attended minor injuries with 13 year old daughter"

About: Victoria Hospital

Anything else?

My daughter sprained her ankle at 5pm on Monday. We attended Deal hospital minor injuries unit who sent us to QEQM A&E for x-ray as their x-ray department had closed. At QEQM we were treated rudely and dismissed when no break was found on the x-ray. Dissatisfied with the care received at QEQM, we attended Deal hospital today where my daughter received excellent care. Staff were caring, apologized for the quality of service at QEQM. They re-examined the x-rays, explained the damage to us, provided information about exercises, examined my daughter's ankle and encouraged her to walk with the aid of crutches. They also gave us an appointment for physiotherapy. The care received at Deal Hospital contrasts with the lack of care at QEQM like night and day. A big thank you to the caring staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital who restored our faith in the NHS :)

Hello and thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent experiences Deal hospital minor injuries unit (MIU) and QEQM. Deal MIU is run by us, and whilst we are so sorry you had a poor experience at the A&E at QEQM, run by East Kent Hospitals, we are pleased that your faith in the NHS was restored by your experience at our minor injury unit. Your comments have been shared with the team there and the service manager has congratulated them on providing an excellent service. We hope your daughter is now fully recovered.
