What I liked

As this was my first overnight stay in hospital and having read some of the stories about the nhs this only added to my concerns and nervousness about my stay. I needed not have worried because from my first contact with staff to my last I was so very impressed. All the staff are dedicated, professional and have great customer service skills which as i work in that field i was acutely aware of. From the staff in the wards, the opperating staff and the doctors they all kept me informed as to what would be happening , why it was happening and how i may feel as a result of it . They also let me know how they could minimise any of these effects which was comforting. The staff always had time for my needs even though they were very busy I was never made to feel a burden or just a part of their work. This attention was also displayed to my visitors and those who rang in to see how i was a very proffessional approach. My experience was such although i hope i never have to stay in hospital again if i do i would make sure that if i do it would be Basildon .The staff and quality of service available are a credit to the medical proffession.

What could be improved

It is difficult due to my limited experience of hospitals to say what could be improved because my experience was very posotive.

One small point is that the signs for Laindon ward be more clearer as at the moment the dominant sign is High dependancy ward , whcih i must say concernd me but the staff who saw me outside quickly reassured me that that formed pard of the ward and their calmness and smiling attitude help me even though at 7am it must have been at the end of their shift so again the staff are a credit to their work.
