"The staff are angels but they don't have enough time"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Parkwood inpatient unit

(as the patient),

All the staff listen but they have no time because of all the paperwork and computer work they have to do. They are passionate about their work, they're angels but they don't have enough time. Not fair on them or us.

Artists' work is great - all sayings and artwork are inspirational around us. Most of the staff have made a difference when they have time. Support workers listen when not in a rush - they're brilliant and help the most.

The environment is awful despite the hard work of the cleaners. The dorms are awful and a new hospital is needed desperately. When they build the new hospital, have relaxation rooms, art facilities and therapies, trained staff in talking therapies, CBT, mindfulness because this is what makes a difference.

Nicer surroundings to cheer you up but also people who listen and are trained to do therapeutic talking therapies with us.

Thank you for your comments; you are not alone in identifying the pressure on time that our clinical team experiences. We constantly seek to find better ways of managing the administration side of our service and will continue to do so. We acknowledge that despite investing time into improving the environment at Parkwood so it could be better to meet service user need. You may be aware that a new hospital is being built that will address all service user’s needs.
