What I liked
I have to visit Basildon Hospital quite regularly as I am 6 months into a difficult pregnancy. The scan department is great, they are very quick and efficient and are quite friendly too. A&E are also usually very good, fairly fast, helpful, patient and considerate. And my midwife is terrific.
What could be improved
It doesn't always look particularly clean. The waiting times for the thyroid clinic are beyond a joke; despite having to make an appointment and only actually being with the doctor for about a minute, I've never waited less than 3 hours (not fun when you have violent morning sickness and it's boiling hot in there too). Same for blood tests if you go during the day; go in the evening instead, it takes about 2 minutes. And some of the maternity staff could use sensitivity training; I didn't appriciate being spoken to like a piece of dirt when I was waiting to see if I'd miscarried.
