Anything else?

OPD is perfectly adequate but what I really object to is having 2 patients in one room at the same time for venepuncture and to be weighed. 1. I do not like being weighed and object to my weight being said out loud either for another to write or just to embarrass and humiliate I am not always sure of the reason but not acceptable. 2. Have some respect for the patient having bloods taken - consider those with needle phobias or as I witnessed some poor lady had to expose her self in order to free her arm from her jumper - why should anyone else witness this I felt really embarrassed for this lady and for me too for being put in such a position in the first place. 3. Reduce the numbers in that room to 1 member of staff who weighs you and then takes your blood or rotate the 2 staff members so 1 does both duties and then the next pt is called and managed by the second member of staff. A beeter use of resources plus consider the patient with limited mobility for example up once only instead of in to be weighed sit down then called again for venepuncture. It would be so much more efficient to do it all at once. Day Treatment Area Too small or adhere to your request of one accompanying person per patient. As a patient it is not nice when you are waiting and very anxious and are surrounded by people, taking the seats so there is no where for you to sit. Also consider the environment it is tailored for those diagnosed with cancer how about those without a diagnosis - very scary perhaps a balance of information??

Thank you for your very objective feedback. I have asked the Matron for Haematology/Oncology to look at the points that you have raised, as I agree that patients should have privacy when being weighed or having blood taken. I will ask Matron to provide me information regarding any changes that occur as a result of your comments and I will then share these online with you. Once again thank you for your very valid feedback.
