"My 14 year old Son has just waited ..."

About: Colchester General Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My 14 year old Son has just waited 4 days to see a Urologist, after being admitted as an emergency suffering from severe stomach pains and vomiting. Surgical doctors cannot decide what is wrong with him, therefore he is still in hospital awaiting a diagnosis for a suspected appendicitis. Urologists have been requested to see my Son every day since he was admitted. Surely in this day and age it is not so hard to diagnose. The worst part is being told by a Surgical Consultant that Colchester Hospital has a QUOTE" a real problem with Urologists they are just to busy". This is a real boost for ones confidence in the medical staff in this hospital. I'm no expert or accountant but surely it would have been more cost effective to get the Urologist on day 1 when requested rather than keep my Son waiting in hospital for 5 days so far.

I WAS PLEASED TO SEE MOST PARENTS AND STAFF USING HAND CLEANSER PROVIDED AT ALL TIMES.

What could be improved

Communications between doctors and medical staff.
