"Treatment was fantastic, the care was faultless"

About: NHS Rotherham CCG Rotherham Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was in intensive care when I was first admitted, all I can really remember is that I had nightmares and hallucinations. Can’t say much about the treatment.

I was then moved to a high dependency unit – here the care and treatment was fantastic, the care was faultless. There was 1 nurse between 2 patients, they did everything for us.

I then moved to ward B5 where I remained for several months. The nursing staff were fantastic, I got to know them and have a laugh and a joke with them. The only problem was the contraption on my legs – cold water pump – which was uncomfortable. They let me take it off but only for about half an hour.

I am now at home having my open wounds dressed by a nurse. I also have a career who comes in the morning to help me get dressed.

Rotherham social services have supplied stair rail and an electric chair that I am still using. I also had an electric bed which has been returned.
