"Lucentis clinic J"

About: Manchester Royal Eye Hospital

Anything else?

I attended clinic J last Friday. I appreciate that these clinics are very busy but I wish I could have an explanation as to why I attended at 1pm as planned and did not get out of my seat until nearly 2pm. It was very clear that the nursing staff were working under great pressure as they had been left with only 4 staff for about 70 patients. The consultant doing the clinic did not arrive until nearly 2pm so obviously there is an immediate backlog. I know the MREH is a centre of excellence but the management of that department appears not existent .I stress again , in my opinion a lot is due to lack of management support to the hard working nursing staff. I left the department at 5.15pm for a 1pm appointment. Perhaps your appointment invites should be changed to'allow six hours for this appointment' not 2 hours?

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope on the Macular Treatment Unit. it is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

Your concerns have also been raised directly with the staff in the Department involved so that they can look into them so that others don't experience the same issues as you did as the Unit has an escalation system for instances such as this which was not followed.

It is difficult to respond to all the posts in a full way often because of a lack of detailed information, therefore if you would like to discuss this with us in more detail, please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk.
