"Gallbladder surgery"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital

Anything else?

Following two painful incidents when I had to be taken to A&E it was discovered I had gall stones. The initial tests were done very quickly and I was given a date within 8 weeks for keyhole surgery as a day admission. The staff there were very good, putting me at ease. The op was straightforward and I expected to be discharged the same day. Unfortunately I was still bleeding and had to have further stitches when they said I had to stay overnight. I was taken to the ward and had temperature and blood pressure taken but from 7pm no one actually came to see if I was still bleeding until the following morning. Fortunately I was dry and sent home. By lunchtime I was bleeding again and had to go back to the hospital where they attended me again. I was given dressings to change myself at home but am unsure how long these have to be kept on. It's very much self administering. No follow up either so I suppose I assume everything is ok
