Anything else?
I had my first hip replacement under the care of a Consultant here. I arrived on Wednesday and was discharged on Friday. During my stay I only saw the surgeon on the day of the op but saw members of his team post operatively. The procedure was explained clearly and I had lots of opportunity for questions both before and after. The nursing staff were welcoming and helpful but were under resource pressure and it sometimes took time to get their attention. The physio team were bright and cheery unlike me when I was helped out of bed and onto my feet 24 hours after the op! The biggest issue I had was the length of time it took from being told I was being discharged to actually being able to leave the hospital with equipment, notes and drugs. All in all the experience was positive and I have no hesitation in going back for the second hip. This is not my local hospital.
