"My operation for colostomy was great"

About: Adult community services / Stoma prescription service Rotherham Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

My operation for colostomy by surgeon R Slater and staff of B4 General hospital (GREAT).

I was ill for 18 months, doctor was just giving me tablets. It went on too long, got stoma bag on and it can't be reversed.

I changed GP to Greenside and got sent straight to hospital and had my operation, I was so thankful.

It was a bad one due to neglect of my old GP.

Thanks.

I support the organisation in making sure that the voice of patients and the public is heard and used in planning services. This involves running events, managing surveys, and building networks with the local community.

Dear Tangy403

Thanks for telling us about your experiences.

Its good to know that you are please with the services at Greenside GP surgery, I've passed your comments on to the practice, as I'm sure they will be happy to receive these comments.

I am concerned though that you have had a bad experience with another GP practice. Its important that people do raise issues and let us know when services are not working well - we can't make any changes if we don't know where the problems are.

There are several ways you could do this

-Call me (Helen) on 01709 302042, or my colleague Sue on (01709 302108), we can discuss the issues with you.

- contact Healthwatch - the new consumer champion for health and social care. The Rotherham contacts are info@healthwatchrotherham.org.uk and 01772 694120.

- raise a complaint directly with NHS England, the organisation that commissions all GP practices, ring 0300 3112233

Helen
