I have recently completed a course of 6 months chemotherapy treatment at Weston Park Hospital, with clinic sessions at Barnsley District General Hospital, with the aim of preventing the reoccurrence of bowel cancer. I was very much impressed with the care, compassion, professionalism and friendliness shown by the doctor and all of the nursing teams, not forgetting the helpfulness and cheery and positive attitudes shown by all of the administration and housekeeping staff. The doctor was always extremely thorough in his examinations and assessments during clinic time, taking time to listen and discuss issues with me to ensure that the most effective treatment and best possible care was given. At all times I felt that management of my treatment and safety were of paramount importance both in the Barnsley oncology clinic and at Weston Park. This was evidenced in the way that the doctor and the nursing team communicated with me and each other and how they recognised and utilised the different specialist skills and knowledge each of them possessed and the structured checking and monitoring procedures before, during and after treatments were administered. Outstanding teamwork and organisation! I consider myself very fortunate to have been cared for by such marvellous, dedicated and committed teams – all of them a great asset to their Trusts.
"Outstanding Oncology Outpatient Care!"
