"Ante-natal care, delivery suite, post-natal ward..."

About: University Hospital Of North Durham

Anything else?

Just had my baby girl over 3 weeks ago at the grand old age of 48 and was classed as a high risk pregnancy throughout. The care during my pregnancy was second to none - the doctor and Team were excellent. I had scans every month and saw my Consultant and also care from community midwifes. My delivery was induced due to a medical condition and a member of staff and Midwifes on delivery suite were excellent - baby heartbeat was up and down during labour - she was born with cord wrapped tight around her neck. Stayed in 2 nights on ward 10 and found some staff were more attentive than others and ward was very busy. Had to return for a further two nights due to my baby developing severe jaundice and had to have intensive treatment in SCBU - excellent caring staff. Sister on ward 10 - very supportive and even rang me when I got home to make sure all was well. Thank you to everyone from Deborah & Martin and Baby Charlotte.

Thank you for providing feedback on your and your baby's experience of the Maternity and Special Care Baby Units at University Hospital North Durham in June 2013. I am very pleased to hear that you and your family had a positive experience and that you are happy with the care you received. Your feedback about the ward seeming very busy and some staff being more caring than others has been taken on board. The Trust is grateful for all feedback, positive or negative, as it means we can better understand what is important to our patients, and your kind comments will be shared with the relevant staff. Thank you for leaving your comments on NHS Choices. Patient Experience Team County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Tel: 0800 7835774
