"Time waiting for review was too long"

About: East Surrey Hospital

Anything else?

After being admitted to a ward to await a psych review following admissions to a&e the night before. I found it unacceptable that I was still waiting for the review 2 days later. After being told I was medically fit for discharge at 8am the morning after being taken in to a&e and was told I had to await psych review before I could go home I was willing to wait. However when I was taken to a ward a began to worry that it was going to take a long time to be reviewed. I ended up spending a night on the ward (which is was not needed as medically I was fine) and spent the following day awaiting review. At 5pm I was told that I would have to stay in another night as it was now going to take place the following day. Personally I found this highly unacceptable. So asked if I could self discharge which was met with a lot of opposition from nursing staff and doctors even tho I was medically fit! Eventually after lots discussion it was finally agreed I could self discharge! The whole experience was unacceptable and not one I wish to repeat for a psychiatric review!
