"Overcrowded and dirty"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

15th June I took my ten year old son there as he had fallen and banged his head. Whilst waiting a drunk man started making rude comments about me. He then got up and tried to grab me. My son and I was very scared, luckily a nurse intervened and we where taken to a separate waiting room. I wasn't asked if i wanted the police to attend or was the incident logged. However my son was soon seen and and the care and attention received was good. I think that the waiting room is not fit for purpose it is both to small and dirty. I also think that a security guard should be on duty at all times to assist the patients and staff

Thank you for your feedback, I can see how this experience must have been both frightening and uncomfortable for you and I am very sorry about your experience. I will be raising this matter with my team and if you are kind enough to provide the date of attendance I can find out why the police were not notified on the day. The Trust is currently reviewing the Emergency Department footprint and looking to expand as we acknowledge more capacity is needed.
