"Doctor in A&E genuinely cared about my recovery "

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as the patient),

I recently used the NHS Forth Valley A&E department as I had sprained my ankle and could not walk without support.

After a very rude receptionist asked me the routine questions through gritted teeth and used the word ‘sit’ after we had went through the questions, I had no hope for this department and was dreading meeting the doctor.

The doctor who dealt with my sprain couldn’t have been nicer. He had such a great sense of humour and made me feel at ease, taking my mind off the pain in my foot. After looking at my foot he gave me a sheet with exercises to strengthen my food and demonstrated each of these so I knew exactly how to do them. He gave me a lot of extra advice and websites to use for my foot. The Doctor also recommended I visit my GP in a week to make sure it was healing how he thought it would.

I was so happy with my service from this doctor and felt like I wasn’t just a number but a person he genuinely wanted to help!

I am sorry you felt the receptionist was rude, we are working on improving the way in which patients are addressed and have made some improvements over recent months. This has highlighted the need to continue with this work. I will share your comments with the reception staff and we will work towards resolving this. Thanks for your positive comments, its always good to hear what we do well.

many thanks
