My husband was booked in for a bladder operation, the consultant's secretary forgot to book the anaesthetist. Operation canceled, re booked for following Friday. Fitted with catheter, despite problems with insufficient flow he was supposed to be discharged Sunday, nurses on ward forgot to change catheter or let consultant know he had not been allowed home. Consultant rang home to see how he was, informed him that my husband was still on the ward. Since his discharge I have had to take him back to the Park twice due to failure of the catheter. He has now been told that a piece of debris from the operation had lodged in his bladder causing a blockage. I can only say that this hospital proclaims it is the consultants choice, it certainly could not be classed as the patients choice!
