"A&E - crush fracture of the finger"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

Came in to A&E with crushed finger on Monday 29th April (Bank Holiday I think). Triaged within thirty minutes, two hour wait thereafter. Waiting area was cramped and scruffy, but there was a lot of demand for A&E services. Treatment was thorough and effective, including Xrays and I was able to drive home. However, transfer to GP and local fracture clinic (Lewisham) did not work well. X-rays were never received by Lewisham and GP could not get a place at fracture clinic because they had no record of the the referral. After conversations with your A&E it became clear that my details had been logged witht the wrong date of birth. In summary: treatment good (and very welcome). Administration and coordination with other parts of the NHS - poor. Andrew C Smith

Thank you for your positives comments. We are aware of the space issues within the emergency department and there is a lot of work happening at the Trust to look at patient flow and improvement of capacity. I am sorry to hear about your experience of being transferred to your GP caused by the administrative error.
