"Diabetic Specialist Nurse"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Anything else?

My wife was admitted to the Medical Assessment Unit ion Sunday and kept under observation. She should have been discharged today (Monday 17) but no Diabetes Specialist Nurse had 10 minutes spare to see her! The result - she cannot be discharged. What an irony given that she has an appointment at the RPH on Friday, 21st June. No one could be contacted - appears that DSN are busy. I am appalled. These are times when a middle aged person feels powerless in the face of bureaucracy and officialdom!

Thank you for providing feedback about the care and treatment we provide. Your comments have been noted and will be reviewed to identify opportunities for improvement and any actions that may be necessary. We appreciate that it is frustrating when discharge is postponed due to delays in further treatment or diagnostics, but it is important that patients receive all the procedures and have the discussions they need before going home to make sure their care is comprehensive and effective. If you would like to provide further details, or would like a personal response, please email customer.care@lthtr.nhs.uk, or you can speak with our PALS team on 01772 522972.
