I have been attending the glaucoma clinic for about 9 years.In this time I have noticed a marked deterioration in the quality of testing by the "Doctors" carrying out the procedures.I have been told by one doctor that the "pressures in your eyes are exactly correct at 12 each" and this after having massive difficulty in using the testing equipment,I didnt believe him and a check with my local optician proved me right.Pressures were much higher in both eyes and not equal by a long way.On another occasion there were no written notes or computer data for reference and the doctor was expecting me to remember 9 years of treatment.On my last visit the doctor checked my medication from information on the screen and was amazed to be told by me that the medication listed was not prescribed for me and based on my information he was able to rectify the mistake.For the first time following this visit I received a letter on pink paper from the hospital which I believe was intended for my GP.Again a mistake has been made with dosage information given to my GP but at least the medication was correctly described.I was surprised to see the letter unsigned by a Mr.......... not Doctor as I would have expected and this is the reason for the inverted commers, Are the people examining me Doctors? It would be interesting to know and given the mistakes made is the glaucoma unit and its administrators fit for purpose?Can I trust them?
