What I liked
Absolutely nothing. I was disgusted by the whole experience. I feel outraged that my father had to experience such an awful display of healthcare at the end stages of his life.
What could be improved
The staff were incompetent and were unable to comprehend my father's condition and therefore the necessity to be on a high dose of morphine and frequent other analgesia. Instead they let my father remain in pain without anything for 6 hours. As a relative and a health care professional I raised my concerns and I received hostility from the staff. The list of my father's neglect and poor practice is endless and includes things such as being deprived of food, no explanations of interventions and the general lack of care.
Anything else?
My father was being looked after in Ward 27 however I feel the standard of care is probably reflected throughout the hospital.
"I am disgusted"
