"Great professional team carried out fistula repair"

About: University Hospital Monklands / General Surgery (Wards 4 & 7) University Hospital Wishaw / General Surgery (Wards 16-18)

(as the patient),

After emergency drainage and incision of perianal abscess at Monklands Hospital I was transferred to Wishaw General for further repair of anal fistula. Had 3 operations in day surgery re this, on all occasions nurses have been very understanding and professional maintaining this standard throughout a busy day. Also my medication and after care treatment was arranged by day surgery nurses for when I left hospital. All theatre staff very pleasant and informative as to theatre procedure. My surgeon Mr Komolafe very informative of each procedure whether it's a general office consultation or pre/post operation and at all times carried out with an excellent bedside manner whilst tackling an embarrassing medical issue. Fingers crossed I don't need more surgery but if I do I know there is a great professional team waiting: )

Dear ButtCheek

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of care within NHSLanarkshire. I am sorry to hear that you required 3 surgical procedures and hope you are recovering well.

I am delighted you found the nurses to be caring and compassionate during your stay, it is important for nurses to be able to reassure patients and advise them what to expect, this not only reduces the patients anxiety levels but also aids recovery. Within Lanarkshire we work very closely with the multidisciplinary teams both within and outwith the hospitals to ensure patient care is seamless.

I will pass on your kind comments to the nursing teams.

Kind regards

Ruth
