"Inadequate in all respects"

About: Croydon University Hospital / General surgery

My mother was admitted via A&E in December 2016. She was under RMH but was admitted to a holding acute ward then a general ward. I can only describe the experience as eye opening for me to see the lack of communication between staff and doctors and patient. Your 'promise' is that 'you feel cared for, you feel in safe hands, you feel confident in your treatment, you feel we value your time, you feel it's getting better'. Croydon University Hospital did not meet any of their promises.

Dear Anonymous

I am so sorry to learn of your experience. I have passed your comments to the senior staff responsible for A&E so that they are aware of your feedback, although I have been unable, from the information provided, to identify who was responsible for your mother's care and treatment. If you are able to contact our PALS office with more information about your mother's stay, I will be happy to ensure that the circumstances are fully investigated. Our PALS office may be contacted by telephone on 020 8401 3210 or by email at ch-tr.pals@nhs.net. The office is open during the week from 9am to 4:45pm.

Kind Regards

Hilary Frayne
