You probably know that you can search for stories in all kinds of ways on Patient Opinion. You can search by service, specialty, tag, place, date, and so on - in any combination.

We've recently made it easier to "drill down" your search to focus on the specific service(s) you want.

For example, suppose you want to find stories about the emergency department at Good Hope Hospital. And suppose you only want to see stories about the department tagged with "injury" or "fracture".

An obvious way to do this would be to type "injury fracture good hope hospital" into the search box. If you do, here's what you'll see:

Not bad! But not quite right. You wanted just the emergency department, but this search includes the whole hospital. What to do?

The answer is in those dots you see just after Good Hope Hospital. Click those and you'll see this:

This enables you to replace Good Hope Hospital in your search with one or more services within it.

In this case, we want the emergency department, so we click the green Add button next to A&E. That will put A&E into the selected services box at the bottom of the screen (if you are trying this out, you'll have to scroll the page down to see this):

If you'd wanted, you could have selected some other services too.

Now click "Update my search", and you're done:

Hope that helps!

Response from Jane Danforth, Involvement & Experience Officer, Involvement, Experience and Volunteering Team, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust on

James, this is just fantastic! I am so impressed.  I can now tell teams over the phone how to put together custom lists of services for Notts. HC. It makes  reporting much simpler.

This has also saved me time when combining our forensic and offender healthcare teams to include the data in our monthly board reports.

Thank you for your patience... I know we have been persistent.

Looking forward to the next instalment...Big cheer for PO!

Jane
