"Docking Ward and communication"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

Contacted the ward to ask for details on my wife's CT Scan. The response I received was dismissive, non informative, condescending and rude. No relative should be treated this way, when trying to ascertain the welfare of their loved ones. I have noticed an overall disregard to relatives in the last few days that my wife has spent in the hospital. Equally the care my wife has received has been extremely poor, and only got better when I complained. I feel there has been a lack of integrity, training, and empathy shown by staff; and senior management should undertake a total review of training and procedures in order to offer a service befitting of the NHS.

Dear Family Member

I write further to the comments you have made about communication from hospital staff. I am sorry to read your concerns. I am also sorry you feel the care your wife has received while she has been an inpatient has been poor.

I would be grateful if you could contact me on 01603 289045 or by email on pals@nnuh.nhs.uk so we can discuss this further and to see if PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) can help resolve matters.

In the meantime, please be assured we will share your comments with senior nursing staff in the hospital.

With kind regards

Sarah Eastwood, PALS Manager
